For the teaching says never to judge the book by its cover,
The painting by its frame, the man by his suit.
And yet the judgment comes inevitably,
By “us”, the very people who taught the same.
Then why are these teachings so seemingly hollow,
Their meaning so deep, yet the understanding so shallow.
It’s a rat race to clamber to the top,
The top that seems the epitome of distraught.
Pushing and shoving, for the moments of glory,
Each with story ending, that is sad, lonely and gory.
Like a barbarian we ravage and slice,
Grinning with glee, holding our pound of flesh.
Winning is the game, losing a shame,
Still slaves to greed, beggars to fame.
Soon people and emotions are brutally stepped on,
The living seem dead, to the powerful, just a pawn.
When success is measured by talent and money,
How is the innocent, to survive the journey?
Dog eat dog world, is of our own selfish making,
Soon the relationships will be a deed and an undertaking.
For love cannot be sacrificed for material,
Let alone living, it will just be a matter of survival.
Make a change, don’t live for a few,
For what you cant spare for others, wont ever be spared for you.
